Tadcaster is a delightful market town surrounded by beautiful Yorkshire countryside and villages. With a fantastic array of cosy pubs selling fine ales, historic breweries, including the oldest brewery in Yorkshire, and a beautiful riverside, Tadcaster is the perfect place to stop off for a relaxing day. And our surrounding villages are full of character and history – well worth exploring.
Our central location between York and Leeds and within easy reach of Harrogate and Yorkshire’s two National Parks means Tadcaster is the perfect place to base yourself for a longer stay in Yorkshire. We are the last town on the River Wharfe before it joins the River Ouse about 10 miles downstream. Today we are located within the shire county of North Yorkshire, although historically Tadcaster was split between the Ainsty of York and the West Riding of Yorkshire. The town is twinned with Saint Chély d’Apcher in the Lozere region of France.
